We flew to Mazatlan on December 7th. We were happy to leave the -26 C weather in Calgary and arrive to +26 C weather in Mazatlan! We flew WestJet and had a direct flight; only took 4 hours to get here. Snowaway was in great shape when we arrived and we had no trouble getting her ready for our first night on board. Tony’s Boat Management had looked after Snowaway during the summer and before we came back, he had her decks washed. Inside the boat Tony had his crew straighten up the cushions so we had a place to sit when we arrived.
Sunday was Richard’s birthday and after working on the boat all morning we headed out for his birthday meal. We stopped for tacos al pastor, not quite the meal we had planned but a nice welcome back to Mexico meal. On Monday we took the bus down the malacon to find Richard’s favorite Mexican dish. dorado zarandeado. The version at Las Palmas was very tasty!
We are getting Snowaway ready to be hauled to have her bottom painted. We had the bottomed cleaned today as well as putting her mainsail and staysail up. She gets hauled on Wednesday morning so hopefully all goes well. We expect to be out of the water for a week. We will be staying in a motel during that time.
